Shane Kinkennon

Shane is principal of Kinkennon Communications and assists Mike McCurry in providing public relations counsel to PSW clients. He has 15 years experience in public relations, marketing communications, public education, and public affairs. He has served as a vice president at Dittus Communications, the nation’s 11th largest independent public relations agency, where among his many roles he ran the food and beverage industry’s largest anti-obesity public education campaign, the American Council for Fitness and Nutrition. He also served as a vice president at Grassroots Enterprise under Mike McCurry, where he conducted online communications campaigns for trade associations, nonprofits, and Fortune 500 companies.

During the technology boom of the late 1990s, Shane served as director of marketing for a Colorado-based DSL company, where he built and oversaw an award-winning $9 million marketing communications operation. His many successes included raising his company’s brand awareness from 0% to 30% in a short five weeks in its initial target markets.

Separate from his PSW role, Shane serves as public relations counsel for Unity08, an organization that seeks to place a bipartisan ticket on the presidential ballot in 2008. In that capacity he has generated news coverage in outlets including ABC “World News Tonight,” PBS “News Hour with Jim Lehrer,” MSNBC “Hardball,” CNN “Situation Room,” “FOX and Friends,” Bloomberg TV’s “Money and Politics,” Hearst-Argyle Television, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, New York Times, Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, NPR, Variety, Associated Press, Reuters, and local online, print and radio outlets around the nation and the globe.

Shane has run projects as wide ranging as building a million-dollar-plus booth for a high profile global trade show and writing award-winning advertising copy for billboards in New York’s Times Square.
